Teacher Resources

Dr. Susan McBride, Professor
Cal Poly University
San Luis Obispo, CA

Dr. McBride has used Double Luck in her teacher education classes.

My college students (studying to be teachers) were affected greatly by Lu Chi Fa's book, Double Luck. Most were moved to tears as they were awakened to the significance of a kind word or deed, to the resilience of the human spirit, and to the unpredictable brutal acts of others. I believe they see each child as an impressionable individual much clearer after reading Double Luck.

Catherine Ryan Hyde, Author
Pay It Forward

Ms. Hyde was greatly affected by reading Double Luck. Teachers and students throughout the world are using Catherine's own "double luck" via her Pay It Forward Foundation.

I am being sincere when I say I will never see my life in exactly the same way. The real beauty of this book is that it does more than just remind you how much you have, and how much worse someone else has had it. It demonstrates the powerful lesson that from adversity comes perspective, compassion, and character. The boy who grows to manhood in this story is so likeable that I closed the book feeling I have a new friend. We would all be much happier if everyone would read Double Luck.
